Argentina’s 2022 World Cup Jersey has been officially unveiled, showing off the threads Messi & Co. will be rocking this Fall in Qatar.

A sharp effort from adidas, the new top is the classic Argentina stripes with a few subtle twists.

Reviewing the Argentina 2022 World Cup Jerseys

Let’s start with the basics: it’s a white top with sky blue stripes, exactly what we’d expect from La Albiceleste. The design is trimmed in black details, including shoulder stripes and the adidas logo which is without the “adidas” lettering underneath. Using only the 3 stripe emblem on the right chest looks like a new trend in national team designs from the German outfitter (but not for club teams, as the latest Manchester United release shows). A black stripe goes down the each side of the jersey and following around on the rear bottom hemline. It’s completed with black sleeve cuffs and a black ring-neck collar which gets thicker as it goes around the back, making for a faux polo look.

Throughout the top there is a subtle tonal diagonal dash pattern, which adds a bit of texture to the design. By far the best detail on the shirt is the rear central vertical stripe. It’s split into two blue stripes with a central white stripe going down the entire length of the shirt and continues over the collar. On the rear neck there is a small gold embossed vinyl “Sol de Mayo” – the national emblem of Argentina (and Uruguay) – creating the effect of a vertically hung national flag.

The black trim was a great choice that really makes the whole shirt pop, and the flag detail on the back is a brilliant bit of design. An iconic look but with a little bit of modern flair, this is a fantastic shirt befitting one of the world’s powerhouse national teams.
