Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo has responded to rumours claiming that he could move to Portugal. The Daily Mirror had claimed that the star striker’s car was spotted at Sporting Lisbon’s stadium.

But the 37-year-old has now responded to the rumours through a one-word reply on a post. Manchester Evening News claim that the striker has now debunked those claims by calling them fake and that has once and for all shut any further claims that he would move to his homeland.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s future has been an exploited subject in the transfer window. Although there were claims regarding his agent’s talks with a number of clubs. Some of those have now gone on to reveal that they are not interested in making a move.

Chelsea and Bayern Munich are not interested in making a move and hence, the striker’s options are dwindling every passing day. The former Juventus striker received a bumper £105million offer in annual wages from a Saudi club, but he has rejected the chance to join them.

Fans at Old Trafford would be unable to witness those memorable Champions League nights next season and it is a truth that can’t be taken away.

CR7 has known UCL football all his career and has been the competition’s greatest player in terms of goals scored for the past two decades. He is yet to play a match in the UEFA Europa League since arriving at Man United in 2003.

Cristiano Ronaldo was pictured wearing the new away jersey, which would be a likely sign that he would even stay. However, everything depends on the player’s decision as the club would soon start preparing for their first Premier League game on the 7th of August.

It remains to be seen whether the club would be able to find a solution for the player’s uncertain future. He can still play at the very top level and a return to Sporting CP would certainly be a downgrade.

Although one must note that the Primeira Liga side will play in the UCL next season after finishing second in the league behind FC Porto in their latest campaign.
