Following the arrival of no less than six top-quality stars in Barcelona last month, there will certainly be a major overhaul in terms of jersey numbers ahead of the new season.
The club have already handed marquee signing Robert Lewandowski the number nine shirt, which was reportedly a part of his personal contract with the club.
In another high-profile change, Barcelona have handed Ferran Torres the #11 kit. Such has been confirmed by La Liga’s official website, which has listed the Spaniard wearing the famous kit, previously worn by Adama Traore.
The explosive forward had joined Barcelona on a short-term loan deal in July. But after a promising start to his return to Camp Nou, the attacker was not able to capitalise and failed to even register a single goal to his name.
Adama was released in the summer, paving the way for Ferran Torres to don the iconic #11 kit, which was worn by the likes of Ousmane Dembele and Neymar in the past.
Many expected Raphinha to follow that trend after joining from Leeds United in the summer. But the Brazilian is set to continue with the #22 kit he was wearing at Elland Road last season.
Other notable kit changes in the Barcelona camp include Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang switching to his favourite #17 kit while Pedri will wear the #8 kit, having become a creative lynchpin in the Barcelona midfield.
What the future holds for Memphis Depay remains to be seen, though. The Dutchman has relinquished his #9 kit to Robert Lewandowski, and there is a chance he may even leave Camp Nou, amid interest from Juventus.
