FC Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski has officially been given his jersey number for the 2022/2023 season.

Lewandowski was unveiled to the Barcelona supporters at the Camp Nou on Friday afternoon as his move from Bayern Munich was completed while they were in America.

Unsurprisingly, the Poland international will wear the number nine jersey, as he did previously at Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich.

The decision means Memphis Depay will now have to take on another number, although he has been linked with a departure in the last few weeks.

“It was a decision by the club,” Laporta said when asked about taking the number away from Memphis, as per Football Espana.

“For reasons that interest the club, for image, for publicity. We thought it was the right decision. It was done with respect to Memphis, who understood it perfectly. Full respect to Memphis.”
