Ferran Torres’ new Barcelona jersey number confirmed
Barcelona star Ferran Torres has secured for himself a new squad number, it has been confirmed.
Versatile attacker Torres, of course, made the move back to La Liga this past January, linking up with Barca on the back of a largely successful stint in England with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
The former Valencia talent’s first six months back in his home country proved something of a hit-and-miss affair, with Torres, despite producing at a solid rate in front of goal, often the target of heavy criticism on the part of the Blaugrana faithful.
Boss Xavi Hernandez, though, has remained unwavering in his support for the big-money winter addition to his ranks, reiterating that Torres has a major part to play at the Camp Nou over the seasons to come.
In turn, it shouldn’t come as a huge surprise to hear of the 22-year-old’s importance being recognised.
As highlighted by eagle-eyed Barcelona fans across social media, La Liga’s official website has confirmed a change to Torres’ squad number.
After donning 19 across his first six months in Catalunya, moving forward, the wide-man will be entrusted with the number 11.

Elsewhere in Xavi’s squad, fellow attacker Memphis Depay, expected to be moved on before the close of the summer transfer window, has been forced to forfeit his no.9 shirt.
This comes with big-money summer addition Robert Lewandowski, as expected, having been named as Barca’s new 9.
