Colombian attacking midfielder James Rodriguez returned to Europe on Thursday as he was signed by Greek club Olympiacos.

"Olympiacos FC announces signing another world class football star, James Rodriguez," the club said in a statement, but gave no details on his contract, only that he will wear the no. 10 jersey.

The 31-year-old visited the club's stadium and thanked Olympiacos fans for welcoming him.

While in Europe, James played for Porto, Monaco, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Everton.

In 2021, the Colombian star moved to Qatar's Al-Rayyan.

James was the 2014 FIFA World Cup’s top scorer, scoring six goals for Colombia.

James helped Portuguese team Porto win the 2011 UEFA Europa League, and claimed the UEFA Champions League trophy twice with Spain's Real Madrid, in 2016 and 2017.

He also won local titles in Spain, Germany, and Portugal.

On Sept. 2, Olympiacos signed Brazilian left-back Marcelo on free transfer as the 34-year-old left his longtime club Real Madrid this summer.
