Paulo Dybala has surpassed Cristiano Ronaldo's record for most shirts sold in Italy in one day following his free transfer to AS Roma.

Dybala completed a free transfer to the Serie A outfit following the expiration of his contract with Juventus.

The 28-year-old Argentina international was offered Roma's iconic No.10 jersey, which was last worn by club legend Francesco Totti but declined the opportunity out of respect for the Italian, instead opting for the No. 21 jersey.

And it appears Dybala has been vindicated after choosing his childhood number with reports from Italy indicating the ex-Juventus star has reached a dizzying height after joining the Giallorossi.

According to Corriere dello Sport, he has managed to surpass the number of shirts that Juventus sold after Ronaldo's signing in 2018.

Ronaldo's record jersey sales in one day stood at 520,000 shirts following the Portuguese superstar's sensational move from Real Madrid to Juventus four years ago.

But per the Italian tabloid, which did not include Dybala's figures, states that the Argentine - who appeared on the wishlist of some top European clubs - has dethroned Ronaldo on his seat as the player with the most merchandise sold within 24 hours.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Paulo Dybala was offered AS Roma's iconic No.10 shirt however the Argentine playmaker declined the offer, opting for his childhood jersey number - 21.

Dybala inked a three-year deal to the Giallorossi following the expiration of his seven-year trophy-laden spell with Juventus, where he scored 115 goals across 292 matches.

He has already hit the ground running, linking up with his new teammates in pre-season as the club gears up for the 2022-23 season.
